They talk about “body language,” as if we all speak it the same. But everyone has their own dialect. For me right now, for example, swiveling my body right away and staring rigidly at the corner means, “I like you.” Because I didn’t run away and shut myself in the bathroom. I just hope he realizes that.
Finding Audrey
Sophie Kinsella
Summary: Audrey can't leave the house. she can't even take off her dark glasses inside the house.
Then her brother's friend Linus stumbles into her life. With his friendly, orange-slice smile and his funny notes, he starts to entice Audrey out again - well, Starbucks is a start. And with Linus at her side, Audrey feels like she can do the things she'd thought were too scary. Suddenly, finding her way back to the real world seems achievable.
My Review: Finding Audrey is about social anxiety, and coping mechanisms, it’s about being bullied, it’s about being strong and overcoming the challenges life throws our way, and it’s done with Sophie Kinsella’s signature wit and charm was so well balanced with the harsh realism of living with mental illness. I laughed out loud and cried with Audrey and her family, her DailyMail obsessed mother, gamer brother, and dad who just wants to watch Downton Abbey in peace. I swooned over Linus and I cheered for Audrey. I highly recommend this short, fun read.
